Drawings- Art Instruction School

Before being accepted into this course I had to sit and draw 3 picture for 20 minutes each because I had not drawn in so long. Here are 2 of them.

Flowers drying in our living room.

Faith laying on the couch.

During this course I was suppose to read the book, do the practice assignments and then the assignment to turn in. I usually did not complete the practice (Here are two that I did do)

Love this one! This is the shoe I wore to my sister Sam's wedding. I liked it so much I drew it for an assignment.

Portrait- no one I know just the assignment.

Full body

Broken Heart

Below are the drawings for my final graded portfolio.
Lettering for business card. Space open on left for picture.

Picture for left of business card.

Faith on a windy day at the USS Constitution in Boston, MA. I love the wild hair.
Coffee maker- My least favorite of the assignment. but it turned out great at the end.

Rainy dog- He passed away this year so it seemed only fitting to use a "my choice " to tribute a terrific friend.

I want to go into fashion design so this was another "my choice" copied from a sewing magazine picture.

Old Drawings- Between the Years

In the non school years I seem to have taken to drawing my oldest daughter Faith.

there has been acrylic Faith.

Charcoal crawling Faith.

Charcoal Portrait Faith.

Crayon Faith

Charcoal first day of preschool Faith .

I still have not figured out how to turn the photos horizontal. If anyone can help please comment.

Old Drawings- North Shore Community College

While taking a basic drawing class (I tried to get into a drawing 2, but the instructor said my work was not recent enough) I was bored a lot, had some fun, but learned nothing new.

Still life- cowboy boots and brown bags
Pair of eggs. ( I tried, but could not get this picture to turn horizontal)
I like the light bulb.

P.S. my teddy bear.

Brown bagging it!

Old Drawings- Maryland Institute College of Art

After High School I was accepted into Maryland Institute College of Art. To be official in the fall I had to take a summer portfolio prep course. Below is art work from this course.

This is a drawing of a rollar skate done using only one line. We were not allowed to look at the paper or pick our pencils up off the paper. This is try one.

This is try 2 much better I think!

Old set of gloves.lots of detail.

shoes all mine just tossed on the floor. My favorite to wear was the penny loafer. My favorite drawn in my sneaker.
Negative space.
Self portrait in charcoal.
Self portrait in oil. Wow did I do a horrible job with this one. I never really noticed it before.

Old Drawings-High School Years

My monchichi stuffed animal. I loved this this so much I just had to draw it one day. He's sooo cute!

Sachem Santa- This Drawing was put onto a t-shirt for our class to wear during color day.

My mom had a set of these candles with mirrors behind in her apartment. I drew this one while she was living on Lincoln Ave.

I though I wanted to be an animator for Disney. this was my first attempt at a Disney style drawing.

A Christmas ornament hanging on our tree.

This is Bubbles the gold fish. He lived long enough for me to draw him. Look he has a "friend!"

Self portrait done while looking into a mirror. I think I was about 15.

One of my Favorites. I started by signing my name to a blank sheet of paper during a childcare class that I was bored with. after 20 minutes I had a hand. the date was added last. For those that are wondering yes I am right handed and it is my right hand that I have drawn. I have had a professional ask how I managed to draw the hand that I draw with. due to the fact that you have to keep moving it so the perspective is constantly changing. I answered that I do not know. What I do know is that I can and have done it again.

Flower Power

I have wanted to make myself a dress for awhile now. Following Celie's Pants blog I was inspired. Her and a few fellow bloggers challenged each other to create a skirt using a large print fabric. I could not decide on a skirt so I opted for a dress in a linen flower print fabric someone had given me sometime ago.
I started by making a muslin. I made the necessary alterations to the pattern and then put the dress together. I have to say for making my first muslin I need lots of practice in the alteration department.

After putting it all together I tried it on and found it way too big. I had to take the sides (complete with hidden zipper) apart and take about 2 inches off of each side. I may have made the sides a little too tight, but I will live with it (I am not doing the zipper again.) The bust still needs work . The lining I added seems to work fine, though the linen print is still too baggy in this area. I feel like I am 7 and wearing dressing up in my mother's dress for play. Maybe it is just because the linen distorts some while working with it.
All in all I am pleased with the results.

Sew Nana

I though my Nana could use a couple of new shirts. rather than take her out to purchase them I chose to make them myself. I have to say that the first one looked fabulous on her when we went out to eat last Friday.

The following shirt was made using her favorite color, orange. I have not seen her in it yet.
